- President Muhammadu Buhari’s medical vacation is still a major national discourse

16 times the presidency confused Nigerians on Buhari's health

Has President Buhari's media team failed him?

President Buhari has been in London since January 19, 2017. The presidency had first announced that he was there for a 10-day leave. But he has since extended the leave on medical grounds.

The media aides of the presidency, together with the minister for information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, have been doing all they can to launder the image of the president’s health.

But it seems they have done more harm than good to the president's image.

Afenifere chieftain and elder statesman, Ayo Adebanjo, has recently said the presidency is not sincere about the true state of President Buhari’s health, adding that those around the president were taking Nigerians for fools.

Similarly, former President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Dr Dozie Ikedife, has expressed his displeasure over how the presidency is handling the president’s health situation.

Here is a timeline of activities of the media aides:

1. January 21, 2017

Barely two days after his departure, it was rumoured that the president had died. As expected, Garba Shehu was on hand to immediately quell the rumours.

2. February 05, 2017

Lai Mohammed said that President Buhari’s return to Nigeria was delayed due to a faulty aircraft were untrue.

3. February 05, 2017

Few moments after releasing a statement announcing the president’s decision to extend his vacation, Femi Adesina said Buhari alone was in the position to release his test results.

4. February 06, 2017

Shehu in a post on his Facebook page said, he spoke with Buhari’s personal doctor who told him the president was not in any serious condition.

5. February 08, 2017

Mohammed while speaking to State House correspondents said Buhari was in good health, and was a victim of his own transparency, he added that the president’s health status was not comparable to that of late former president Umar Musa Yar’Adua, saying Nigerians do not need daily updates on Buhari’s health.

6. February 08, 2017

Lauretta Onochie, a personal assistant to the president on social media insisted that Buhari was not ill.

7. February 14, 2017

Following outcry from Nigerians requesting details of the phone conversation between Buhari and US president Donald Trump, Shehu said it would be “undiplomatic” to make the contents of the call public.

8. February 14, 2017

Shehu told Nigerians to be prepared to see President Buhari soon.

9. February 16, 2017

While speaking on a morning show, Adesina said President Buhari would not speak Nigerians as a matter of principle.

10. February 18, 2017

Speaking youths in Abuja at an interactive session, Shehu said the presidency will urge Buhari to speak with Nigerians.

11. February 21, 2017

Adesina issued a statement where the president told Nigerians there was no cause to worry over his health.

12. February 21, 2017

Adesina said contrary to speculations Buhari would not sneak into the country on his return.

13. February 21, 2017

Adesina in a bid to defend his principal said Buhari would be responsible for informing Nigerians of his possible return date, saying he only speaks what he is told as the president’s spokesman.

14. February 22, 2017

During a telephone conversation on radio, Adesina said he had not spoken with the president since he went on vacation.

15. February 25, 2017

Adesina, who spoke with Buhari for the first time since he went on vacation, said the president thanked him for coping with mischief makers.

16. February 25, 2017

Shehu tagged the date, “a day for the media team” – meaning a day when the president decided to put calls through to all members of his media team

LATEST: on the supposed peaceful FUTO protest.

FUTO: A BLACK FRIDAY!It is no longer news that Friday, the 17th day of February, 2017 will forever remain evergreen in the minds of FUTO students as the institution witnessed the worst form of protest/riot over the purported hike in tuition fees, no free Wi-Fi (as proposed), incessant increase in course registration fees and other pressing issues. The peaceful protest which was initiated by a well-known student activist, a former SUG PRO in the person of Comr. Ogbonna Collins popularly known as ‘Rochas’,turned to a violent one after he was arrested by the Department of State Security Service (DSS).The protest began as early as 6am with mobilization ofstudents staying off campuses before heading to the hostels to mobilize more angry Nigerian Students to join in the protest. Around 8am, the institution was lit with a peaceful march down to senate building with students on black outfit carrying placards written “Prof. F. C. Eze must go”, “Say no to hike is school fees”, “We need more banks in FUTO”, “Federal University of Money, Owerri”. No vehicle (especially staff vehicles) was allowed to enter the school; all went well not until security operatives (Police, DSS, SARS) stormed FUTO with full force like an angry lion looking for who to devour.

The Vice-Chancelloron sighting the angry scampered for safety without uttering a single word to the student (which could haveended the protest).Students later marched down to various lecture halls to make sure no lecture was ongoing. It is worthy to note that a lecturer (name withheld) was whisked out of a classroom and asked to stop his lectures for his own benefit. Everything that happened was a peaceful one. All hell went loose when our very own activist, Rochas was accosted, beaten and arrested by DSS after they engaged him in a shootout while trying to catch him. After he was whisked away, the whole protest turned violent.Firstly, students marched to senate to destroy properties but they were stopped by the police who used tear gas to dismiss the mob. However, after much trial, students were able to destroy most of the vehicles parked at Senate, threw heavy stones on the aluminium windows, and broke the senate gate with other heavy damages. Later, the mob marched to Diamond bank where they destroyed most the facilities at the bank including vehicles parked at the bank. Before the police could intervene, the angry mob marched to the ICT building where they did the most fatal damage.

Almost all the laptops, printers, UPS, scanners, and other accessories worth thousands of naira were looted in broad day. The building was vandalized and the windows were damaged. Other damages were also done at strategic buildings like Library, SEET and SMAT complex, SUG resource centre, SOSC building. Later, the police men came and intervened by arresting students, and shooting of tear gas. Sanity was later restored on campus and information came from Abuja that the students should vacate the hostels before 4pm or else face the law. Academic activities were also suspended till further notice.Meanwhile, most students expressed their annoyance on the purported hike in tuition fee when interviewed by reporters from FUTO students’ society of Journalist. Read their reactions: “Our school fees has been unreasonably increased, imagine year one paying over 100 thousand naira for tuition and acceptance fee”, “it is a taboo for a Federal University to pay such a high amount”.The school management is yet to make an official statement with regards to the protest, Rochas is yet to be released, students have vacated the hostels and academic activities has been shut down till further notice.

FUTO STUDENTS CRY FOR HELP!!!

Below is a letter by an anonymous FUTO student who is pouring out his heart to the public and authorities on behalf of the students.

WHISTLE-BLOWING IN FUTO
This is a PUBLIC PROTEST letter to all relevant authorities in Nigeria, from students of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.
The administration of our new VC, Professor Eze, has inflicted one harsh and unjustified policy after another on us students:
-Our school fees have been increased pitilessly and summarily by over fifty percent so that ours is now the most expensive Federal University of Technology in the country;
-The Wi-Fi and other services advertised to justify the increments have been shown to be bogus and false;
-These insensitive gestures have gone on in the midst of the most biting recession students and parents have been and are going through in recent times;
-Our SUG has been compromised;
-Now, WHILE IT IS STILL ONE MONTH TO EXAMS, we are threatened with late payment charges if we do not pay immediately (17-02-17)!
Are these people human at all?
Even if not, are they not subject to higher considerate authorities?
This is our SOS.
Diamond Bank, stole our monies until we protested and then they were forced by authorities to refund them. This too can change.
PLEASE REBROADCAST TILL THE SITUATION GETS TO THE ATTENTION OF SOMEONE WILLING AND IN A POSITION TO HELP FUTO STUDENTS.

Tu baba's miraculous visit to President Buhari in U.K

After images showing APC Chieftains Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande visiting President Buhari in the U.K, an ingenious Nigerian went ahead to Photoshop 2face Idibia into their photo.

President Buhari with APC leaders Asiwaju Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande in London

Perhaps the culprit (Susrite Grafix) wanted to use the image to show Nigerians that indeed 2face is a man of peace or whether to show that since he was the de facto convener of the recently held protests against the FG, President Buhari wanted to have a talk with him.
Thanks to Photoshop, 2face finally meetsBuhari
Whatever his intentions were, at least he has made Nigerians laugh with this photo

SEE COUNTRIES FORMING AN ANTI-TRUMP GANG.

These are the 8 countries forming an anti-Trump gang

Donald Trump, the newly elected president of the United States, has launched some executive orders that have been received with murmurs and uproars.

These are the 8 countries forming an anti-Trump gang
President Donald Trump has signed the gag rule.
Some countries have come together to become a team with an initiative of raising millions of dollars. This fund will be used in replacing the shortfalls caused by President Trump's ban on US-funded groups that provide information on pregnancy termination.

The funding initiative would help non-governmental organizations that may have family planning problems.
Trump's global gag rule would cause a funding shortfall of about $600 million in the next four years according to the Netherlands' announcement. The global fund that will be launched will help women have access to abortion services.
Find below the countries that are teaming to counter Donald Trump's moves:

1. Netherlands

2. Sweden

3. Denmark

4. Belgium

5. Luxemburg

6. Finland

7. Canada

8. Cape Verde
Isabella Lovin, the deputy prime minister of Sweden revealed that these countries are ready to cooperate and lend their support. She explained that the gag order could be so dangerous for women.
The global gag rule was created in the regime of President Ronald Reagan in 1984. This rule affects US NGOs working abroad, incoming presidents also have to make known their stand concerning abortion rights
The gag rule was lifted by Barack Obama in 2009 when he took office. President Trump signed the order at a ceremony in the White House on his fourth day as the US President.

Big Brother naija has exposed our Nyash...

A report by The Economist with focus on the ongoing reality show ‘’Big Brother Naija’’ has revealed how difficult it is to run a business in Nigeria.

Nigeria's minister of information. Alhaji Lai Mohammed had ordered for the probe of Big Brother Naija

There was uproar in the country when Nigerians discovered that the programme was being filmed in South Africa.
Two weeks ago, Nigeria’s minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed ordered the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission to determine whether the production company, Multi-Choice had breached Nigerian Broadcasting Code in any way by choosing to host the show in South Africa.
Responding, MultiChoice noted that it was easier and more cost-effective to stage the show in its existing house in johannesburg
During the only previous Nigerian edition a sponsor had removed the fuses from the house’s generators in a dispute over advertising, taking the programme off air for eight hours, says Remi Ogunpitan, a producer at the time.
Eleven years later Nigeria’s power supply is still erratic, and the price of diesel for generators has more than doubled in the last six months due to supply constraints.
The show been filmed in South Africa has no doubt put a dent on the image of Nigeria especially as regards the constant continental economic supremacy between both countries.
In 2014 Nigeria leapfrogged its rival to the position of Africa’s largest economy, when its GDP was re-calculated by the government and found to be almost double the previous estimate.
But Nigeria, whose population is more than three times South Africa’s, was
overtaken again last year because of falling oil prices and the subsequent
devaluation of the naira.
Many Nigerians simply see the bother over “Big Brother” as a wake-up call to their government—and further proof, if any were needed, that their country is a tough place to do business.

Hmmmm: Witch doctor Kwaku Bonsam claims T B JOSHUA IS HIS BOY

                                          priest Nana kwaku

- Popular Ghanaian witch doctor, Priest Nana Kwaku Bonsam, has had a 'war' with popular Nigerian Prophet, TB Joshua, at least once in the last two years
Prophet TB Joshua, the founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), has come under fire several times for allegedly hiring people to pretend to be sick and disabled and then claim to heal them during his prayer meetings.

Kwaku Bonsam, who operates from a shrine at Sa-Peiman, a village on the outskirts of Nsawam in east Ghana, is assumed to be a very strong witch doctor who is also called 'Devil of Wednesday'.

Apparently, this Ghanaian "priest" is said to be very powerful, that he has claimed he is the 'spiritual father' of some of the most powerful preachers in Africa.

Here's what the "priest" had to say:

"Over 1,700 pastors and so called men of God from different parts of Africa have approached me, seeking powers to perform miracles, including Prophet T.B Joshua from Nigeria. He is my boy. I challenge him to come out and deny this.

"Apart from the pastors, many prominent business people and celebrated church founders in Africa frequent my shrine for my services and if they deny, I am going to name them."

The question is, why would he choose to threaten to expose his 'dedicated' patrons?

Wow! Nigerian University finds cure for HIV/AIDS

If claims Professor Francis Otunta are anything to go by, then, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, might have discovered a drug for the treatment and cure of HIV/AIDS.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution located at Umudike in Abia state, has announced the discovery of a drug which he claims is potent in the cure of the epidemic.

Otunta told newsmen at the university campus on Wednesday, February 1, that the finding followed years of scientific research by the institution.

He said that the breakthrough was made by Prof Maduike Ezeibe, a researcher in the university.
According to him, Ezeibe had presented the drug to the University management, Senate and Council, where he explained the processes he went through to arrive at his finding.

The VC also said that Ezeibe had equally presented the drug to his colleagues in the medical field and nobody had contradicted his finding.

“Prof. Ezeibe is a researcher in Veterinary Medicine and one may wonder how he discovered a drug to cure a human ailment,” he said.

He commended Ezeibe for the breakthrough, saying: “He has brought honour to the University and we are proud of him.”

Otunta said that the university was in the process of mass producing the drug for further clinical trials on persons living with HIV/AIDS in the country.

Ezeibe, who is a professor of Veterinary Medicine and Clinical Virology, said that the drug was produced with Aluminum Silicate and Magnesium Silicate (Synthetic Aluminum-Magnesium Silicate).

He said that the two minerals “are already in use as medicines for the treatment of various animal and human diseases”.

He said that 10 persons living with the disease, “who volunteered’’, were made to apply through their doctor to the VC.

“They were treated daily with the Medicinal Synthetic Aluminum-Magnesium Silicate (50 mg/kg),” he said.

Ezeibe said that the volunteers were subjected to monthly tests for viral loads and CD4-lymphocyte counts.

“With the antiviral effects of the medicine, its ability to reach all cells (as nanoparticles) and the lymphocytes, there is no more hiding place (sanctuary) for HIV,” he said.

He said that the medicine had been used to potentiate Ampicilin, Chloroquine, Piperazine and Sulphadimidin, among others, and could be a major foreign exchange earner for Nigeria, if approved by relevant authorities.

According to him, “local and international medical companies will find the product as a veritable raw material”.

Ezeibe said that he presented the research findings to the World Virology Conference in Atlanta in 2015, and Antonio (Texas) in 2016.

Besides, he said that the results of the laboratory tests had been published in many international scientific journals, including the British Journal of Medicine and Medical Research, among several others.

He said that he is also about to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with a U.S.-based Scientific Research Publishing, publishers of World Journal of AIDS, for the publication of his book “How I came about the cure for HIV/AIDS”.

Ezeibe, who said that the medicine was patented in August 2014 in Nigeria, called on the Federal Government to help him to secure international patency for the drug.

He said: “If commercialised, the Medicinal Synthetic Aluminum-Magnesium Silicate would become an alternative for petroleum to the Nigerian economy.”
